The Department of Intensive Care of Nicosia General Hospital provides Telerehabilitation service which supports critically and chronically ill patients in the community. The service was implemented under the project entitled "Telerehabilitation" that was co-financed by National Funds and the European Union (under the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme "Greece-Cyprus 2007-2013").
The project was implemented in cooperation with the Department of Computer Science of the University of Cyprus and the Department of Intensive Care of the University General Hospital of Heraklion.
This innovative service aims to support cardiopulmonary rehabilitation programs -by using telemedicine in patients after hospitalization in the ICU- and focuses on the development of larger accessibility to health care, safe and quick rehabilitation of patients in the community and innovative research and development of medical services. Also, it's supported by modern technology and quality telemedicine infrastructures of low cost upgrade and scalability.
